Coundon Court 6-1 Leamington Hibs Colts (H)

Leamington had the first chance but Rhys covered and cleared. After good battling by George and through ball by John allowed Daniel to shoot which went just wide. Through ball by George and DANIEL pounced 1 – 0 to Coundon.

A wonderful move by Zack and a great cross by Justin nearly led to number 2 by Daniel. Dion was alert to another counter attack to clear. Coundon were now well on top and looking deadly up front in Owen and Daniel and solid at the back with Jack Rhys, Zack and Callum and Goal Keeper Daniel. A thunderous shot by DANIEL who was on fire. 6 – 0. Leamington finish the game with a good lob goal 6 – 1.

Man of the Match – George Payne

25/4/10

Coundon Court 5-2 Pinley (H)

After a disappointing result mid-week the lads were desperate to get back to winning ways.

Despite Pinley starting well it was Alex who had the first chance and hit the post with a delicate chip. But it was Pinley who struck first with a well worked goal 0 – 1. Coundon struck back quickly with a great through ball by Alex and a wonderful finish by OWEN 1 – 1.

Coundon were starting to play but the defence of Callum, James. Rhys and Justin were alert to the Pinley counter attack. John and Jack were working the flanks well. A thunderous header by Justin rattled the crossbar, followed by some great defending by Callum to snuff out a Pinley attack. Good hands by Dion stopped a good strike. Alex drove through and had his effort cleared off the line. Another great through ball by Alex and ZACK pounced to finish well 2 – 1.

Pinley struck back with a well taken lob to make the half time score 2 – 2.

A great 20 yard effort by George whistled just past the post before the lions struck again with a lovely finish by OWEN 3 – 2.

OWEN pounced again shortly after and slotted home a great goal 4 – 2.

Coundon were playing some great football and a Zack shot was well saved by the Pinley Keeper. The through ball by John was again finished superbly by OWEN for Coundon's fifth goal and the final score 5 – 2.

Man of the Match – Owen

21/4/10

Coundon Court 1-5 Whitley Juniors (H)

Early chance to Whitley which was well saved by Daniel, followed by another great save. Just as Coundon were starting to get a foothold into the game – an injury to Daniel (Striker) forced him off. With a player short Coundon were battling to stay in it. Dion - on for Daniel.

The defence of Dion, Callum, Rhys and James were holding Whitley at bay.

A superb run and shot by JACK made it 1 – 0.

The midfield of John, Justin, Jack and George were battling hard. A speculative shot by Whitley made it 1 – 1. Followed by another long shot 1 – 2 to Whitley.

Second half starts with a clearance off the line by Dion. A well worked goal by Whitley made it 1 – 3. Penalty to Whitley and Daniel makes a great save. The lads were really battling and competing for every ball. Two more Whitley goals finished the match at 1 – 5.

Man of the Match – Jack

18/4/10

Coundon Court 8-3 Firefighters (A)

Coundon kick-off – early pressure from Fire Fighters (FF), Coundon concede a corner which comes to nothing. More FF pressure results in a goal kick. Coundon counter with a shot from Daniel forcing a save from FF Keeper. More Coundon pressure – Alex plays a through ball for Daniel which has too much momentum. Coundon keep pushing. JOHN shoots from 20 yards and scores a great goal (0 – 1).

Scrappy play from both sides. FF shot high and loops over Daniel to level 1 – 1. CC attack again with DANIEL driving a stunning shot into the net (1 – 2).

Another Coundon attack forces a corner from a Daniel shot. The corner is cleared by FF. FF win a free kick which goes straight to Daniel R. Coundon counter which FF scramble away. FF corner is cleared. A fairly scrappy first half finishes 1-2 to Coundon.

FF start the second half and Coundon concede a corner early on. Coundon clear back to FF who drive a shot over the bar. A long range cross shot just glances the Coundon cross bar – Coundon are lucky to escape! Coundon attack – Owen nods the ball through to DANIEL who slots past the Keeper (1 – 3).

Coundon start to pressure. Daniel and John both getting shots on which are blocked. FF counter and shoot and score from the edge of the 18 yard box (2 – 3).

Coundon again come back, DANIEL bagging his hat-trick (2 - 4). Poor Coundon defending lets FF back in (3 – 4). Coundon reply almost straight away with a fourth from DANIEL (3 – 5).

Coundon start to dominate, JACK makes it (3 – 6) followed up by two more from DANIEL . Final score (3 – 8).

Man of the Match – Daniel C

27/3/10

Coundon Court 4-0 Pinley Colts (A)

After a great team performance last week, the lads were keen to carry on. An early chance by Daniel was saved well by the Goalie. The game became a scrappy affair with the wind affecting any football.

The through balls by Alex and George were Coundons best form of attack for Owen and Daniel but the Pinley Keeper was equal to them. Any Pinley attack was being snuffed out by Callum, Jack, James and Rhys.

From a great corner from Callum, Coundon and DANIEL got their reward with a clinical finish. 0 – 1. This is how the half ended.

The second half and the lads must battle against the wind to preserve their slender lead. First chance to Coundon and a great shot by Jack was cleared off the line, however Pinley were putting the pressure on, but a great flick by Owen and drive and shot by JOHN made it 0 – 2.

Another counter attack by Coundon and JOHN coolly slotted home the third 0 – 3. Coundon were buzzing and a superb run and ball by Jack found DANIEL who brilliantly lobbed the goalie to make it 0 – 4.

The defence of Dion, Jack, James, Callum and Rhys were defending like lions as a unit. Daniel, Owen, John and Alex were attacking with pace. George and Justin were holding the midfield. It was another all round team performance. Final score 0 – 4.

Man of the Match – John

20/3/10

Coundon Court 2-0 Rugby Town (H)

Early pressure from Coundon with some great football by Alex and Justin giving OWEN a good strike 1 – 0 Coundon.

Great defending by Jack and James snuffed out a Rugby attack, followed by a good smart stop by Dion. Coundon were playing some lovely football using both wings and attacking crosses. After a corner JACK struck a sweet shot into the corner of the net 2 – 0.

It was an even game but some stout defending by Jack James, Callum, Joel and Dion were keeping Rugby at bay. Another great football move by John Zack and Owen nearly led to a third.

Justin, George, Zack and John were battling hard in midfield and constantly feeding the industrious Owen and Alex. Half time 2 – 0.

After a half where Coundon put in one of the best “Team” performances of the season, it was crucial they followed through to the 2nd half. Justin showed this with a barnstorming run down the line which created a chance.

Rugby were upping their game and were denied by a good Daniel save showing strong, safe hands. The team were battling to a man topped by some great thumping tackles by John. A superb bit of skill and through ball by George to Owen nearly led to a goal.

Daniel was very brave to snuff out a Rugby chance and Rhys was doing some sterling defending at left back. Final score 2 – 0.

The lads knew when to play football and knew when to roll up their sleeves and battle and as a result, thoroughly deserved their victory.

Man of the Match – Justin

6/2/10

Coundon Court 2-3 Leamington Brakes (A)

After a lengthy lay off due to Christmas and weather conditions this was a chance to get the season back on track. After a scrappy start a great ball over the top released Daniel whose shot was well saved, this was followed by an Owen header that went wide. Owen's corner was then met by ALEX's head to make it (0 – 1) Coundon.

Another good save by the Leamington Goalie thwarted a Daniel strike. The defence of Zack, Joel, Callum and Rhys were snuffing out any Leamington attacks, however a scappy bit of play led to the equaliser (1 -1), quickly followed by another (2 – 1) and the lads were up against it.

A good stop from Dion prevented further damage. Coundon came back into it, but were up against an inspired Keeper who saved from Daniel, Justin and John. Half time 2 – 1 to Leamington.

An early second half goal by Leamington made it 3 – 1. The second half was a scrappy affair, with Coundon trying to play football on a small muddy pitch, but finding hard to break down a dogged, organised Leamington . Finally a low skimming shot by DANIEL made it 3 – 2. A superb diving tackle by Callum kept Coundon in the game from a Leamington counter attack.

Final score 3 – 2.

This was a hard fought game which deserved a draw. The lads should look at all the positives in the game as there was a lot of good passing and on another day without an inspired Goalkeeper who gave a man of the match performance, would have seen us win quite comfortably. If our play continues in this way we should see more wins than losses. Well done for a good attitude on the day.

Man of the Match – Callum

13/12/09

Coundon Court 2-3 Finham Park Rangers (H)

An even start by both teams, Coundon defending well. Zack putting in some important tackles and the midfield marshalled well by George and John. Coundon's first corner executed perfectly by Justin caused panic to the Finham box. To be fair most of the play was in or around the Coundon box and a great save by Dion kept the score at 0 – 0. A Finham goal looked on the cards and although Joel put in a couple of great defensive tackles and Jack and James were busy, nothing could prevent Finham taking the lead. Half time 0 – 1.

The second half started well for Coundon, with John forcing a good save from Finham's Goalie and Daniel being denied by a great last ditch tackle. A free kick headed on by George was pounced on by JOHN who neatly slotted home 1 – 1. Moments later a great save by Daniel kept it level and the resulting goal kick was slipped nicely to DANIEL C who shrugged off two tackles to put Coundon ahead 2 – 1.

All the pressure was now on Finham and a great George free kick almost found the back of the net as did an Eddy driving shot. Any Finham threat was dealt with well defensively. Late Finham pressure forces a late cat like save from Daniel to preserve Coundon's lead, but nothing could be done about Finham's equaliser (2 – 2). Moments later a corner provided Finham with a chance which was well taken. Final score 2 – 3.

Man of the Match – George

22/11/09

Coundon Court 1-2 Leamington Hibs Colts (A)

The lads were looking to extend a 6 match unbeaten record.

Once again the ball over the top and DANIEL pounced to score 0 – 1 Coundon.

Despite poor conditions the lads were playing some great football with Owen, George, Alex and Jack linking well and leading to Jack and Daniel hitting the post. Any Hibs attacks were quickly snuffed out by Callum, Joel, Zack and Justin. However, the game became scrappy and Hibs were getting more into it, causing the lads problems. Half time 0 – 1.

Daniel on for Dion and John on for Eddy. The lads needed to assert themselves on this game and it was Hibs who scored first for game on (1 – 1).

Hibs had the ascendancy and Coundon were looking ragged – Hibs took advantage and scored again (1 – 2).

There were a couple of chances for Daniel and Alex and then John hit the bar. Coundon stopped playing football and stopped battling and as a result lost the game. Final score 2 – 1.

Let's hope for a response from this poor performance from the boys. The next game can't come quick enough to put right the wrongs that were seen in this match. This will only be achieved if the boys put into practice what the Coaches are telling them.

Man of the Match – Justin

15/11/09

Coundon Court 2-2 Weddington Thistle (H)

A top of the table clash v Weddington. The first 10 minutes saw the lads asking questions of the Weddington defence with some great football in the midfield with John, George, Justin and Owen which Daniel nearly latched onto. At the back there was some great covering tackles by Callum & Joel.

The scores were kept level by a great fingertip save by Dion. This was soon followed by a GEORGE's thunderbolt shot from the edge of the box 1 – 0 Coundon.

DANIEL quickly followed with a typical surge and strike, 2 – 0 Coundon. Weddington respond quickly to make it 2 – 1.

A superb first half, full of football, determination and desire from the lads.

The second half starts with Daniel on for Dion, Jack for John and Alex for Eddy. The Lads were put under some pressure by a very good Weddington team, but stood firm with Zack and Jack making some crucial tackles and the good safe hands of Daniel.

A free kick from George went just over. Weddington hit the equaliser from a corner, 2 – 2 final score.

A great display by the lads who deserved their point against a Weddington team who had won all 7 games.

The joy on the Weddington team and Management at the end of the game only re-enforced that they had been in a tough encounter.

Man of the Match – Callum

8/11/09

Coundon Court 5-1 Firefighters (H)

After last weeks postponement the lads were eager to keep their four match unbeaten run going.

Coundon were slow to start and Firefighters scored but it was offside. A great run and ball by John with a shot from Owen is well saved. This was followed by another save from Owen's shot after a lovely through ball by Eddy. The lads were starting to get on top. A great free kick by Justin found OWEN who takes his chance 1- 0 to Coundon.

Dion was soon in the action and pulled off a point blank save and a good take from a corner. The lads responded and EDDY smashed home to make it 2 – 0 Coundon.

Coundon continued to pass the ball well with Eddy shooting just wide. Dion was alert again to a good free kick with a smart stop. This was followed by some good defensive play by Callum, Joel, Rhys and Zack. Half time 2 – 0.

Daniel, Jack and Alex on for Zack, Justin and Dion. The second half began like the first with a Firefighter disallowed goal. The Coundon defence were being tested but were holding strong and a great through ball by George to Eddy who passes to OWEN for his second. (3 – 0)

The Coundon Midfield of John, George, James and Jack were battling hard. A great save by Daniel kept it 3 – 0 and another swift counter attack by Coundon ended in a goal for ALEX 4 – 0.

Firefighters are given a penalty but shoot just wide, this was followed by another smart stop by Daniel. Another counter attack by Coundon. Justin's brilliant throughball to OWEN who slotted home for 5- 0 and a hat-trick goal to mark his 100th appearance for the club. This was followed by a shot by Alex which just went wide. Firefighters then score a deserved goal 5-1.

This makes it 5 games without loss. Now is the time not to sit back. We have a hard game coming up next week and everyone will need to be on their game. If the lads do this we should get the right result.

Man of the Match – Rhys

18/10/09

Coundon Court 3-3 Rugby Town Colts (A)

In a superb environment the lads were going for a fourth straight victory.

An early chance for Alex who was denied by a great save, it was Rugby who drew first blood though to make it 1–0. This was quickly followed by a thunderous free kick that found the back of Coundon's net 2–0.

DANIEL pulled one back with a great goal 2–1. A close offside decision goes against Coundon and Rugby soon punish Coundon further to make it 3–1.

A great ball from Callum to Daniel is just hit wide, but the second strike from DANIEL is deadly and makes it 3–2. Dion then pulls off a great save to keep Coundon in it. After a game of ping pong in the box, JOHN was bravest and got the final touch to make it 3–3. What a half; at one point the lads looked down and out, but showed a true steel to dig deep. Half time 3–3.

The second half started very tensely as both teams knew the next goal could be vital. Jack nearly scored a screamer that just went over, followed by James who just shot wide, followed by Owen, then Daniel shooting wide. Coundon were now encamped in the Rugby half. This was followed by a stunning save by the Rugby Keeper to deny James.

Despite the efforts the score remained at 3–3. It was a pulsating game which the lads deserved to win, but for a few missed chances and a super save by the Rugby Keeper.

That's four games now without defeat. The lads are starting to show a great will and desire to keep winning. This was seen by their response when they went 2 – 0 down so early in the game. With this determination and attitude I'm sure there will be many more wins to look forward to.

Man of the Match – Justin Maiden

11/10/09

Coundon Court 3-0 Leamington Brakes Colts (H)

Coundon kick off the first half with a foul to Leamington in the centre. Owen wins the ball in the centre and makes a long pass which is called off-side. He then makes a surging run on the right wing. Leamington counter but are stopped by Zack. Leamington one on one with Dion but hit the ball straight at him. Eddyputs through a great pass to Daniel who runs with great pace onto the ball but is stopped by the Leamington Keeper. Leamington start edging it due to wasted possession from Coundon.

Great play from Justin sends Daniel on a surging run and forces the keeper to make a great save with the rebound being blocked. Daniel's next shot is blocked and slowly creeps wide. The long balls to Daniel are causing Leamington real problems as Coundon begin to dominate. A free kick to Coundon in range from a handball is sent straight at the Keeper quickly followed by a shot from George into the side netting. Coundon then get their second corner of the game but nothing comes of it. Daniel is fouled for a penalty kick which Owen takes and just shoots wide. Half time and Coundon are firmly on top (0 – 0).

Alex, James, Jack and Daniel come on for Dion, George, Rhys and Justin.

A scrappy chance falls to Owen who just puts it wide from the middle of the box. Several chances finally results in ALEX smashing the ball into the bottom left of the goal (1 – 0).

Coundon have good strength in the centre and are dominating with two chances well saved by Leamington quickly followed by the ball hitting the bar from a great effort by Alex. Good switch of play from Zack to Eddy who plays a great through ball to John on the left who shoots wide. Coundon are firmly dominating. Callum is calm on the ball after collecting a long ball and passes to start a counter but it peters out. Leamington start attacking but the Coundon defence of Joel, Callum, Jack and Zack are back quickly and Daniel R safely collects the ball. What looks like a certain goal by Daniel sneaks wide. DANIEL is quickly back on the ball and scores with a good curler in off the post (2 – 0). This is followed by DANIEL putting the ball through from the right and into goal. (3 – 0).

The lads played some fantastic passing football today, keeping their shape and supporting each other. It was a great team effort that resulted in a well deserved win. Let's keep up the good work!

4/10/09

Coundon Court 3-2 Finham Park Rangers (A)

The lads were determined to put back-to-back victories together for the first time this year.

After some early exchanges and tough tackling by George and John a great through ball by Owen found DANIEL who smashed it home from a wide angle to score Coundon's first goal. The Lions were starting to play some great football and another shot by Daniel was well saved. The defence of Dion, Jack, Zack, Rhys and Callum were looking strong. Another shot by Alex just whistled wide, followed by another good effort by Daniel. DANIEL's next attempt was deadly as he latched onto a loose ball which was caused by good work from Zack at the back, passing it down the line to Owen (0–2).

This was followed by an identical strike by DANIEL which gave him his hat trick (0 – 3). Half time the lads had played some of their best football and had a well deserved lead.

Straight from the kick-off Finham attacked the Coundon goal with pace and Coundon gave away a penalty, even though Dion made a great attempt to save the ball (1 – 3). This seemed to cause the lads heads to go down and as a result Finham quickly scored their second goal (2 - 3). After the second goal the lads got their heads together showing some good defensive work and giving Daniel R a quiet time.

It had now become a really tight competitive game, with both teams battling for the points. A shot by Owen just went wide. Coundon's midfield of John, George, Justin and James were scrapping for every ball and the lads held on for a deserved victory. Final score (2 – 3).

To sum up the game – the lads played brilliantly in the first half, went to sleep in the second which allowed Finham to get back into the game. This possibility was discussed at half time and not taken on board – let's hope a lesson has been learnt.

Man of the Match – Owen

24/9/09

Coundon Court 8-4 Westwood (A)

This was a game which hopefully will see the lads bounce back from the disappointing extra time cup exit.

The first half started with a first chance to DANIEL who rushed his shot just wide. His second effort though was deadly after a great through ball by Zack. (1 – 0) This is quickly followed by a pass from Zack to Owen to DANIEL and a crisp shot making it 2 – 0 to Coundon.

Coundon were dominant and a couple of efforts from Alex went close. A couple of efforts by Westwood were well held by Dion, but the third shot he had no chance (2 – 1).

A great turn and strike by GEORGE made it 3 – 1, followed by a typical Striker's goal by DANIEL for his hat-trick (4 – 1). Westwood then scored an own goal (5- 1).

Coundon were dominant and John came on for the hat-trick hero Daniel. Westwood never gave up and score their second. Half time 5 – 2.

Daniel, Justin and Rhys on for George, Dion and Alex. Despite some chances for Owen, Justin and Eddy it was Westwood who scored first in the second half. The goal a carbon copy of their previous two (5 – 3). Coundon respond with a good effort by John after some good play by Jack going just wide. However, it was game on when Westwood got their fourth 5 - 4. Only a great save by Daniel keep Coundon in front.

Coundon were stung into action and both Owen, Eddy and Daniel went close before OWEN slotted home to make it (6 – 4). His confidence sky high OWEN cracked home another to make it 7 – 4 and settle the nerves. This was quickly followed by OWEN'S hat-trick right on full time. (8 – 4)

If we keep playing with this enthusiasm and determination we will win more than we lose. This can only be achieved by good team work.

Man of the Match – Whole Team

20/9/09

Coundon Court 2-5 aet Whitley Juniors (A)

This was an early chance for the lads to avenge last weeks 3 – 2 defeat in the league.

A good early move by Owen and Zack is picked up by Jack who thumps the ball onto the post. Whitley follow with their first attack which is well saved by Dion, the resulting corner led to Whitley hitting the bar.

A great bustling run by Daniel stretches the Whitley Keeper to push the ball past the post. This is followed by a corner taken by Alex, picked up by George who shoots the ball over the bar. Despite this the lads had to be aware of a determined and direct Whitley attack and ride their luck on a couple of occasions.

A great through ball by Joel to DANIEL C who slots the ball home with true Striker's skill. (0 – 1). The lads are lifted and a quick corner led to a great shot by JOHN who makes it 2 for Coundon. (0 – 2) at half time.

Second half, Eddy and Daniel come on for Callum and Alex. An early attack by Whitley brings the score back to 1 – 2. Whitley have the ascendancy and would have equalised but for some last ditch tackles by John, Zack and Joel. Another great run by Daniel almost led to a goal and this is followed by a fantastic free kick by Daniel which cracks the bar.

A counter attack by Whitley was stopped by Dion who read it well. Whitley were now back on top and Dion has to make another great point blank save to keep Coundon in front. Three minutes from the final whistle a penalty is given for handball.

Dion seems to make a fantastic save but despite most people agreeing that it had not gone in, the Referee states otherwise and the goal is given to Whitley (2 – 2).

There was some understandable confusion from both sets of players. The re-start was followed by end to end attacks but the final score was 2 -2.

The first half of extra time kicks off and both teams were tired but Whitley scored from a corner (3 – 2). This is quickly followed by another (4 – 2).

The lads were up against it with only 10 minutes to turn it around. After some constant pressure from Coundon a breakaway goal by Whitley sees the final score 5 – 2.

Man of the Match – Dion

13/9/09

Coundon Court 2-3 Whitley Juniors (A)

The second game of the season and a chance to put last weeks 2 – 0 defeat behind us.

A good start by Coundon leading to a snap shot from Daniel which just goes wide. The positive start continued with a corner and a great run and cross by Zack with JACK pouncing on the ball and putting it in the net for Coundon's first goal of the season. (0 – 1)

Whitley fought back but the Coundon defence of Joel, Callum, Zack and James stood their ground and the defence was well marshalled by Dion. Shortly after a scrappy bit of play Whitley get an equaliser. (1 – 1) Coundon then have a close effort and start to play football with a shot just over by Justin.

1 – 1 at half time. Both teams had their chances and looked to be going all out for the win in a hard fought first half.

Second half and Alex and Rhys are on for James and Justin. A good early effort by Owen goes wide and for a while Coundon begin to play the better football and are on the front foot. A breakaway goal puts Whitley ahead (2 – 1). Whitley continue to be on top of the game after the goal and Coundon find it hard to get any football going. Whitley then have a goal disallowed for off-side and this is quickly followed by another killer goal (3 – 1) Whitley.

DANIEL hits the bar with a screaming free kick and then gets a deserved goal after skipping the defence and slotting home. (3 – 2)

After the goal Coundon come alive again and start to look dangerous but time runs out.

The lads should see this as a missed opportunity as during parts of the game they dominated. However, they are still lacking in passion and aggression. Too many times not going to the man with the ball and not looking for their passes. This has to improve.

Nevertheless they went down fighting and this gives optimism for the rest of the season.

Coundon Court 0-2 Weddington Thistle (A)

The first game of the season with both teams trying hard to play good football. Weddington were exerting some pressure and Joel was forced into an excellent last ditch tackle preventing a goal. The opener did come for Weddington from a swinging free kick.

Coundon came back and Daniel was briefly away from a lovely over the top through ball but good defending halted his progress. The Lions did exert some pressure but a quick counter attack saw Weddington double their lead.

Although Weddington were on top John, George and Zack were putting in some strong tackles. A good effort from Daniel forced a smart save from the Weddington keeper and Dion was similarly forced into action at the other end.

The second half started with Justin on for John and Daniel on for Dion in goal. A good through ball by Owen to Daniel almost led to a goal but a well organised Weddington team had the better of things and countered very quickly. Callum was forced to cover after one such break after Daniel had a good effort on goal.

The score is probably a fair reflection of the game however; the boys ought to be proud of the way they kept battling against a good Weddington side.
