Weekend Scores Off the Field News

Weekend Roundup:

28-29 January 2012

A thumping victory for the U16 Girls has helped really tighten things up at the top of Division 1, with just one point separating the top 3 teams. Four for Jenny, two for Daisy and from Nequila sealed an impressive win over Gornal and strengthened the girls title claims. The U10 Girls also won in good style 5-1 over Solihull, it has been a fine season for this group of girls playing their first season of football. Jess hitting the heights with four of the goals and Mia claiming the other.

A storming second half comeback was not quite enough for the U13 Reds, 4-1 down into the second period, the girls threw everything at the visiting Boldmere Falcon side but lost out 4-3. Jess' hat-trick proving to be in vain.

The U12s lost out to Stretton Swift who have won all of their games this season, although the scoreline was 7-0, this represents a big improvement on the first time they met and shows that the girls are continuing to make fine progress as they play against girls a year older.

Defeat too for the U15 Blacks, shorn of a number of players they were beaten by Kings Norton, Miranda continued her good goalscoring form with both of the Lions goals.

The U15 Reds kept a third consecutive clean sheet as they won at Redditch, missed chances might have proved costly in the first half until Lois latched on to Charlotte's through ball. Brittany added a second with a sharp finish to make the final score 2-0.

The U7s and U8 Boys were both in action, Oisin and Alexander on target for the older boys.

A week after a really tight encounter with Kenilworth Wardens, the U11s met them again, this time Wardens ran out 3-0 winners though the scoreline flattered the visitors.

The U10s were also beaten 5-2 by Chetwynd in an entertaining encounter. Another win for the U12s goals from Caine and Ethan provided the springboard for a fine performance against Stratford.

A win for the U13s as they edged the game by the odd goal in five, Jack, Taylor and Callum all on target.

The U15s took the lead in their game at Massey Ferguson through Kyle's goal after some slick passing put him through, however the lead was pegged back and with 5 minutes left Masseys took the lead. However Kyle had the final say, a spectacular overhead kick rescuing a point.

COUNDON COURT FEATURE ON ROMANIAN TV!
We have some excellent foreign coaches working at the club thanks to our links with Coventry University and their Sports management courses. Vlad Cintic has been sponsored by the club through both level 1 and level 2 coaching courses and coaches with our U15 boys and girls teams. He spent the summer home in Romania promoting his studies in England and his links with Coundon Court on both TV and in the papers, quite the celebrity coach!

AGREEMENT WITH COVENTRY COLLIERY CLUB
We are excited to announce an alliance with the Coventry Colliery Club. The social club runs 2 teams in the Coventry Alliance league and has 2 excellent large pitches, the initial agreement is for our older teams, boys and girls, to play some of their home games at the club. This agreement ensures the growth of our club as we outgrow our home at the school. The additional pitch will allow us to runs boys teams up to youth level, and begin planning for an open age team for the girls.

HEADCASE SPONSORS OUR YOUNGEST TEAM

Coundon Court Under 7s with Wayne Bates
We are delighted to announce that popular local businessman Wayne Bates, proprietor of Headcase Barbers, is sponsoring our youngest boys team. This continues a good relationship with the club as Wayne managed our current U11s for two seasons. The boys can be seen above in their new kit proudly showing off the Headcase logo. They will be definitely hoping to cut the opposition down to size as the season goes on!

A NEW TEAM!

Coundon Court's latest team is based in Angorom, Uganda! We sent out 50 kits with Coventry-based charity Global Care who are setting up a primary school there. Global Care's Paul Rowell said:
"It was one of those memorable moments, the chair of the PTA asked the football team to come forward and there was the normal sized  11 + subs group of boys, I then produced the football kit and all of a sudden the football team became 40+ strong!

CHARTER STANDARD CLUB AWARDS
REGIONAL WINNERS

After winning the BCFA Community Club of the Year we were put forward for the Regional award with a host of other clubs from local County FAs, and we won that too. This is our third regional award and our club now goes forward for the FA National award.
So why are we so successful? As a player you play for your team and see little else of the club. You probably took part in the Dribbleathon and raised money for Sport relief, a great club event, and as you get older a host of opportunities will open up for you. From U14s on you will be able to take a coaching award (JFO) have a taste at refereeing , first aiding and volunteering at community football. All this leads to Duke of Edinburgh awards and GCSEs via ASDAN qualifications. Here's our video presenting our case as more than just a club

Callum gets Double Gold
We at Coundon Court are very proud of our young leaders.  We make every effort to push them forward with new skills and abilities.  Over 60 former and current players have now passed JFO courses, a prequel to the level 1 coaching course, we have 6 level 1 passes and 3 level 2 passes already from former players under 18 years old.  Callum and Tracey represented the whole BCFA area at the FA's national young leaders camp last year, a great achievement for them and the club.  Step into Sport is a programme we support highly and it rewards volunteers at various stages of volunteering, 50, 100, 200 and 400 hours.  6 players have now achieved the gold standard of 200 hours, but Callum has now hit double Gold, an award sponsored by Dame Kelly Holmes herself.  Callum is the leading ambassador for the whole BCFA area.  It seems like only yesterday when he turned up for his first sessions with our community kids!  Well done to everyone who has helped Callum on his way, and well done Callum.
