DRIBBLEATHON - £1894.90 RAISED FOR SPORT RELIEF
How far can we dribble a football? Further than we all thought!

All the sponsorship money is now in and the grand total raised for Sport Relief is £1894.90. An amazing total, even more amazing was that we dribbled for 142 miles in just an hour. Round of applause for all our players please!

THE PRODUCTION LINE KEEPS ON ROLLING
Congratulations to 3 of our under 8s team who will be on the pitch at the Ricoh this Saturday signing academy forms for Coventry City. Following on from the 4 Coundon Court players snapped up by professional clubs last year, we wish Cian, Ben and Daniel the very best of luck in their new adventure. Coventry have a lot to live up to as these lad's team set a new club record for us, 25 straight wins and 15 clean sheets. They will be missed, but opportunities now open up for talented youngsters to join this high quality team and be part of Coventry's only FA Charter Standard Community club. Phone: manager Paul Sweeney on 07813 550478
Meanwhile the next team of Coundon Court superstars begin their football careers this Saturday, the under 6s playing their first ever game at 12:30 at Coundon Court.

Callum gets Double Gold
We at Coundon Court are very proud of our young leaders.  We make every effort to push them forward with new skills and abilities.  Over 60 former and current players have now passed JFO courses, a prequel to the level 1 coaching course, we have 6 level 1 passes and 3 level 2 passes already from former players under 18 years old.  Callum and Tracey represented the whole BCFA area at the FA's national young leaders camp last year, a great achievement for them and the club.  Step into Sport is a programme we support highly and it rewards volunteers at various stages of volunteering, 50, 100, 200 and 400 hours.  6 players have now achieved the gold standard of 200 hours, but Callum has now hit double Gold, an award sponsored by Dame Kelly Holmes herself.  Callum is the leading ambassador for the whole BCFA area.  It seems like only yesterday when he turned up for his first sessions with our community kids!  Well done to everyone who has helped Callum on his way, and well done Callum.

The Club Presentation was held at The Woodlands Power League Centre. All the pitches were open and boys and girls of all ages were playing football throughout the warm evening. 500 burgers were sold, and even given away to the hungriest children at the end of the evening! The club presentation was held outside as there were too many children to pack into the bar at the same time, read more on the Lil Lion page.

Birmingham County FA hailed the heroes of grassroots football at its annual awards presentation held in conjunction with the Grass Roots Football Show at the NEC on Saturday 31st May. A host of characters from Birmingham, the Black Country and Warwickshire were rewarded for their efforts at the ceremony hosted by BBC WM's Jenny Wilkes and attended by guests from local leagues, Community Partners McDonalds and The Football Association. County FA Charter Standard Awards were won by clubs and individuals who have gone that extra mile to ensure they meet and often exceed the requirements outlined by the kite-marking initiative. Coundon Court FC won the FA Charter Standard Development Club of the Year for the 2nd time in 3 seasons. This was also the clubs 3rd Club of the Year award since their formation in 2002. The award was presented by the FA's own Les Howie to Barry Morris and Richard Seedhouse.

Rich presents an autographed copy to a hopefully future coachHead Coach Rich Seedhouse launches his first book 'Coaching The Coach'. Rich explained As a Charter Standard Development Club, Coundon Court FC coaches are all qualified to the minimum Level 1 standard. In my role as Football Development Officer I have seen many ex players, keen parents and young sports leaders complete their level 1 coaching award. They all come back fired up, keen to coach and all want to know about the Level 2 award. What are the differences, how can they improve and get to the standard required? We wanted to maintain this enthusiasm and give all our coaches the best chance of passing. So this was the basis for the book, to help, aid and improve all our new coaches”

Coaching The Coach is the only practical guide, which shows how to use drills as the tool to coach players and has received positive comments from established coaches. The book is available online through www.forsport.co.uk the pro-coaching equipment specialists who were delighted to list the book after two copies were sent to them for their professional evaluation. Match of the Day pundit and ex England striker Alan Shearer has even got a copy of the book, which is also available through the online bookstore www.amazon.co.uk having a RRP of £8.95.

Not only did he secure the award within the County but also the regional award too.
In addition Stacey who has recently started coaching at the Saturday community sessions scooped the young leader of the year award. Congratulations to you both!

Charter Standard Awards 2006

Not only that, but we were also victorious as the FA Regional Development Club of the Year for the West Midlands region as well, after going up against other counties like Staffordshire, Shropshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire.
